How do I fix I/O device error easily?

Usually it means there’s a problem with the drive or the cable.

Try this:
  1. Unplug and replug the drive (or USB) and try a different port.
  2. Restart your PC — sometimes that’s all it needs.
  3. If it’s an external drive, try it on another computer.
  4. Check the cable — a faulty one can cause this error.
If none of that works, the drive might be failing. Back up your stuff if you can still access it.
